[OOC] Application to [community profile] deercountry

Character Base

• Character Name: Fox Alistair
• Age: 21
• Canon (Date/Year Released)/Canon Point: RWBY (July 2013 to present), post-Before the Dawn (July 2020)
• Items Coming Along:
  • Sharp Retribution : Bladed tonfas that he wears on his hands and wrists. The blades can be moved from the elbow position to across his fists and have ranged dust bullet capabilities. They can also channel his aura/energy into a stronger attack, such as sharpening the blades of the tonfa or creating a stronger punch that causes a lot more damage.
  • Scroll : Fox’s scroll which is a smartphone type device for the world of Remnant.
  • ADA : Accessibility Dialogue Assistant (Ada). This is an ear-bud shaped device that connects to Fox’s scroll that allows him to navigate the world. It sends sonar pulses into the surrounding area to scan it and then verbally related the information of the setting back to Fox himself. Ada is meant to adapt to the person using it and also has a compass to orient the user generally. Ada also has a battle mode called Cyrano Protocol that scans the area regularly assessing their surroundings, weapons nearby, potential weapons, and assesses their opponent, their weapons, and tries to predict their fighting style.
  • Outfit : Fox’s general outfit of combat pants, belt and pouches with various dust bullets, a tight sleeveless shirt, combat boots, and general undergarments.

Content Warnings for Character: Violence, Trauma, Death, Nightmare Fuel Monsters, Violence Against Minors, Congenital Blindness

Original Deerington Application

• Link to Accepted Deerington Application: Here.
• Additional Adjustments to include:
-- Fox arrived in Deerington and found a lot of his friends from Remnant were here and also some enemies who weren’t enemies anymore were there too. Fox kind of putzes around doing his other thing and dealing with various events in the game, but usually tries to keep up with what is going on with his friends, especially Ruby and Oscar. Lots of different things happened that he had to deal with. He almost freezes in a blizzard, almost gets eaten by a dream eater, has to break out of an insane asylum with the help of Neopolitan, is shrunk and has to fight a praying mantis with Bucky Barnes, and then has to decide what to do with Julia’s egg and his own when the time comes. The other eggs weren’t hard for him to make choices about but those two were. He chose to do nothing to Julia’s egg because he figures leaving her egg alone would be better for getting them all home. He also chose to do the same with his own egg because he assumed awakening it would lead to going to a place they couldn’t come back from.

-- Becoming friends with Oscar, who he hadn’t met back home before helped Fox a lot with settling into what was happening to them. Oscar was a kid in his mind, who also happened to be a lot more mature and self-sacrificing than he should have to be. So Fox decided to big brother him a bit—at least how he assumes big brothers behave—which isn’t unlike how Team CFVY took team RWBY under their wing back at Beacon before it Fell. Being able to be someone for Oscar to lean on and do low-stress things like building mudbrick huts and teasing him while they practiced throwing darts (Fox was blind but he made it work), was important for Fox feeling centered himself. As long as he’s got a role and he can find his place in things, he can generally handle anything. Sure, Ruby and Oscar a lot more capable than they sometimes come across and he respects that about them, but he still has the need to “look out for them” so to speak.

-- His choice to do nothing with his own egg will lead to Consequences for him in how his blood magic presents itself. As he chose to do nothing in hopes that was the option that would lead home, Fox is going to be forever branded with the mark of his Decision To Do Nothing. Because he wasn’t indecisive. He chose Nothing as his best option. So the large tattoo on shoulder is going to become a permanent scar of upraised flesh that he can trace with his fingers. The tattoos colors make be gone, but the mark will live on and have an influence on how his magic works in the game.

Deer Country Attributes

• Canon Powers:
  • Aura/Aura-Sensing : Aura is something that everyone has on Remnant. It is an extension of a person’s soul and can be uses to protect themselves in the form of aura armor around their bodies in a fight, or used in combat offensively when fed into their weapons or the world around them. Fox’s aura control is strong he can pump his aura through his weapon directly into Grimm and cause them to explode and do damage to other Grimm around them. Fox also has an extremely high level of aura-sensing abilities, able to recognize each person’s and living things aura individually despite being unable to see aura. He’ll use the phrase “seeing” but it’s a very unique sensory experience for him, and he can even recognize when someone else’s aura has been mixed with another person’s or has overtaken theirs (such as the case with the Crown and Gillian’s aura in Before the Dawn). Fox’s aura sensory abilities has a fairly wide range, but the more input he gets, the harder it is to separate so he starts to shrink his range and focus on specific people/groups or areas instead. He skill also allows him to sense just how much aura a person has, such as when he recognized just how huge a well of aura his teammate Coco has (which makes sense considering her semblance is pumping her aura into things).

  • Semblance : TELEPATHY comes in two parts, one (1) is the ability to create a two-way connection to people that allows him to send them his thoughts and to receive theirs in return, this has been less necessary in the months since they stopped Carmine and Bertilak in After the Fall and he’s becoming more adept at using one-way connections, too. He can sense people but they can’t sense him. This also means he can project his thoughts out to a group, so far the largest group he’s managed is around a couple hundred people and it really wears him out. Two (2) of his Telepathy is the ability to sense a person’s mind and get a general sense of them. It allows him to use his telepathy as a sort of radar for sensing the people around him but like his aura-sensory abilities, it only has a certain amount of radius and that radius shrinks the more he wears himself out (someone masking their aura doesn’t mask their mind, for example). For people and creatures like the Grimm there is an emptiness, a void, as they do not have souls and are creatures of pure negativity.

  • Enhanced Senses : Fox has honed his other senses due to his blindness, which gives him better hearing, a more discerning sense of touch, taste, and smell. He tends to like people more if they smell nice, too.

  • Hunter Training: : Fox went to Beacon Academy for two years before the Fall and then traveled to Vacuo to attend Shade Academy with his team, where they have been training for almost a year and a half. He’s technically on his third year as a student but it’s really his fourth because Shade had them retake a year. And in that time, team CFVY has been doing their own investigations and missions to improve their preparedness for when they become full-fledged Huntsman and Huntresses

• Blood Type: Paleblood
• Omen: Firebrandi, is a skeleton pony. Yep. A small slender pony with black skin and red orange hair that’s skeleton shows over her skin to the point of glowing at night. She is pushy, mothering to others whether they like it or not, and doesn’t really care much about people’s opinions. She’s not socially graceful whatsoever. And she will eat whatever she wants. Whatever she wants. Some people might even think she looks similar to what Grimm look like in RWBY but Fox wouldn’t know because he’s blind and Firebrandi feels right and that’s what will matter to him. Appearances are never going to matter to Fox.
• Blessed Day: February 14th because it’s Velvet’s birthday and he really misses his teammates.
• Patron Pthumerian: Doorway is his patron, because of the focus on loyalty, relationships and bonds (considering how his Semblance works on creating psychic links), and being reliable and someone people can depend on. Fox might have wondered if he could have gotten a bit more of an adventurous patron, but also does think “Yeah, that sounds right.”
• Blood Power Manifestation:
Thanks to being a paleblood, Fox's typical telepathy is boosted a lot more at night, especially on nights when the moon is nearly or completely full. This makes him able listen to and/or project thoughts at a much greater distance. These are the days in which he can also walk in people's dreams or pull people into his own, although being blind any visual stimulus in the dreams will not translate to him. This is only done with player permission, of course.

Fox will also be dealing with the complications caused by the Consequence of his choice with his egg. He will be prone to scars on his body (especially those he received in or due to Deerington, such as the scars from the fight with the praying mantis and the tattoo scar) re-opening and bleeding. The more magic he uses, the more blood he sheds, which contributes to both corruption and blood pollution around him. They will burn and ache as they bleed and take a few days to heal back over again. These wounds cannot be healed by anyone else and must scar back over naturally. As he chose to do nothing when it was time for sleepers to act, he must now deal with pain every time he chooses to act and use blood magic, suffering without someone being able to help him in it. It’s something he will have to overcome on his own.
